Aloe vera is a succulent plant that has been used for many years for its many benefits. Aloe vera gel is recognized in various fields, including cosmetics, medicine, and food. This practical and versatile plant is also charming. Its green, fleshy, triangular foliage brings a desert-like touch to any decor. The Barbadensis variety is the most common and the one used in the food industry. It is recognized by its young shoots speckled with white and its yellow flowers. It requires little watering, but plenty of light.
Be careful: although Aloe vera gel is edible, it is strongly recommended to follow certain precautions. The serrated leaf carries a risk of cutting and contains a thin layer of latex. Ingesting the gel without cooking can cause indigestion. In animals, it can cause severe diarrhea and vomiting.
